Paris Christmas Markets 2026: Dates, Neighborhoods and Transfer Tips

Planning a Visit to the Paris Christmas Markets

Wooden stalls, seasonal lights, gift shopping, and warming treats make Christmas outings in Paris memorable. Choose one or two neighborhoods and plan your return trip. Markets do not share a single calendar, opening schedule, or entertainment program.

2026 dates checked on October 26, 2026: the Paris tourist office lists the Tuileries market from November 14 to January 3, 2027, and La Défense from November 12 to January 3, 2027. The City of Paris lists the Notre-Dame market at Square René-Viviani from November 26 to December 27, 2026. Programs remain subject to change.

Check the Paris tourist office’s updated selection and the official Notre-Dame market listing before traveling.

Choose Your Neighborhoods

The Tuileries and Central Paris

The Tuileries Garden pairs a festive outing with a walk around the Louvre and Place de la Concorde. Check the attractions and prices for the edition you are visiting. A Ferris wheel, skating rink, or performance should not be assumed to return every year.

La Défense

La Défense is a separate outing west of Paris. Allow time to reach the pedestrian plaza and identify a suitable entrance if traveling with a stroller or with limited mobility. A driver cannot drop passengers in the middle of a pedestrian-only area.

Notre-Dame, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, and Montmartre

These neighborhoods lend themselves to walks combining heritage, cafés, and shopping. For Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Abbesses area, check the current edition’s announcement before committing to an itinerary. Place des Abbesses is not the forecourt of Sacré-Cœur; reaching the basilica involves an additional uphill walk.

Seasonal activities at City Hall and other locations vary from year to year. Do not rely on an old program when planning your visit.

Food, Crafts, and Family Activities

Depending on the vendors, you may find hot drinks, pastries, regional specialties, decorations, and small gifts. Products, prices, and origins vary between stalls. Compare options and check the information that matters to your purchase.

With children, locate restrooms, places to take a break, and attraction prices. Free market admission does not mean rides, workshops, or entertainment are free. Dress warmly and wear shoes suitable for spending time outdoors.

Opening Hours, Budget, and Crowds

There is no single opening schedule for all Paris Christmas markets. Check the exact venue, particularly on holidays. A weekday visit may be easier to organize, but it does not guarantee quiet conditions.

Set separate allowances for food, drinks, activities, shopping, and transportation. Costs depend on your choices, and a general budget estimate cannot replace the prices displayed on site.

Getting Around and Planning the Return

The Métro and RER can be convenient for traveling between neighborhoods. Review schedules, engineering work, and accessibility. Taxis and private cars remain subject to traffic and road restrictions, even when booked in advance.

With First Class Partner, you can request a prebooked transfer from your hotel, a station, or an airport. Agree on an accessible meeting point within a reasonable walk of the market, and allow time to reach the vehicle.

  • Specify the date, market, and exact addresses.
  • Provide passenger numbers, luggage, and children’s ages.
  • Confirm child seats and vehicle capacity.
  • Agree on return arrangements, waiting time, and overtime charges.

Extend Your Evening

Department store window displays, dinner, or a river cruise can complement your outing. Book these separately and check their schedules. Avoid an overly tight itinerary: transfers and queues take time.
