Taxi or Private Chauffeur at Paris Gare de Lyon?

Chauffeur VTC devant la gare de Lyon

Arriving by train at Paris Gare de Lyon? For a taxi without a reservation, follow the taxi signs to the official rank on the station forecourt, Place Louis-Armand. If you have booked a chauffeur, follow the meeting instructions in your confirmation. Your next departure, the number of passengers and how much luggage you have will help you choose.

Taking a taxi or booking a chauffeur

You can take a taxi from the rank or book one in advance. Waiting times at the rank depend on how many taxis are available when your train arrives. A private chauffeur (VTC) must be booked before pickup. You can agree on the meeting place and request a vehicle suited to your group when you book.

Fares and payment

Paris taxi fares are regulated. For a direct journey between the station and Orly or Charles de Gaulle Airport, check the flat fare for the airport and the side of the Seine. Gare de Lyon is on the Right Bank. Journeys between railway stations are generally metered. Taxis must accept payment by bank card regardless of the fare. Official taxi fare information (in French).

For a First Class Partner chauffeur, provide your addresses and times to get a price before booking. Payment is made online. If you need an extra stop or a longer wait, check what your confirmation includes.

Catching another train or a flight

For connections to Montparnasse, Gare du Nord, Gare de l’Est or Saint-Lazare, give us both train numbers and times. Allow time to get off your first train, reach the vehicle and find your next platform. For Massy TGV or Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy, also allow for the distance outside central Paris.

For a flight from Orly or CDG, specify the terminal, departure time and when you need to reach check-in. Booking a chauffeur helps you plan the pickup. The drive still depends on traffic.

When does public transport make sense?

For Chessy or destinations south of Paris, compare the rail route as well. The RER A guide covers the journey towards Disneyland Paris. Check RER D connections for your destination in the southern suburbs. Check the service on the day and consider the walk at each change if you have children or several suitcases.

Luggage, children and accessibility

Tell us how many passengers, large cases and pushchairs are traveling. A Mercedes V-Class carries up to seven passengers plus the chauffeur. A Vito for eight passengers plus the chauffeur is available on request. Give the children’s ages if you need suitable child seats.

If a passenger uses a wheelchair, tell us whether they will travel in it or transfer to a vehicle seat. Confirm the vehicle, space for equipment and accessible meeting point before booking.
