Paris Airports: A Guide to CDG and Orly Terminals, Services and Transfers

Illustration of an airplane flying near the Eiffel Tower in Paris

Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and Paris-Orly Airport (ORY) are major gateways to Paris, Île-de-France and destinations across France. Both offer terminal facilities, hotels, parking and several ways to continue your journey, but their layouts and transportation links are different.

Whether you are traveling for business, visiting with your family or connecting between flights, knowing your terminal and planning your onward transfer can make your arrival easier. This guide covers airport services, transportation, train station connections and prebooked private chauffeur transfers.

Charles de Gaulle Airport: Understanding the Terminals

Terminal 1

Terminal 1 has a distinctive circular layout and serves a range of international airlines. Follow the signs for your airline’s check-in area, arrivals exit and onward transportation. Shops, food outlets and other facilities depend on your location and whether you are before or after security.

The public CDGVAL shuttle links Terminal 1 with Roissypôle and the Terminal 2 transport hub. Allow time to reach your specific departure hall after leaving the shuttle.

The Terminal 2 Complex

Terminal 2 includes halls 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, 2F and 2G. Your airline’s current flight information determines the hall you need; do not assume it solely from your destination or ticket type.

Terminal 2E includes separate boarding areas, while 2F and 2G have their own access arrangements. Terminal 2G requires an additional connection from the main Terminal 2 complex, including the public N2 shuttle from 2F when appropriate. Follow the airport’s instructions for landside transfers and your airline’s instructions for connections after security.

The Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV station provides RER B and high-speed rail access at the Terminal 2 transport hub. It is not a separate station at each hall.

Terminal 3

Terminal 3 has a more compact layout and is reached on foot from Roissypôle. The nearby RER B station is named Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1, although it is not inside Terminal 1.

Check the facilities available for your flight and allow time for the walk between the terminal and transportation hub.

CDG Terminal Names from March 2027

CDG plans to introduce new terminal names on March 16, 2027: Terminal 1 remains 1; Terminal 3 becomes 2; 2A–2C becomes 3; 2B–2D becomes 4; 2E becomes 5; 2F becomes 6; and 2G becomes 7. This is a change to terminal naming rather than the construction of seven new terminals.

For future travel, check the terminal name on your airline’s latest confirmation. Air France information about the new terminal names.

Paris-Orly Airport: Orly 1, 2, 3 and 4

Orly 1 and 2

Orly 1 and 2 form part of the airport’s connected terminal complex. Use your flight confirmation to identify the correct check-in and departure area. Airline allocations and routes can change, so a broad distinction between domestic and international flights is not enough to select your terminal.

Orly 3

Orly 3 is the connecting section between the airport’s former western and southern terminal areas. It should not simply be described as a low-cost or regional-flight terminal. Follow the signs for your airline, security checkpoint and boarding gate.

Orly 1–2–3 Private Chauffeur Transfers

Orly 4

Orly 4 is the former Orly Sud terminal area. Its services and airline operations are part of the wider Orly complex. Confirm your departure or arrival area before arranging a pickup or choosing a parking facility.

Parking and Vehicle Services

CDG and Orly offer parking options with different terminal access routes and booking conditions. Compare the parking location with your actual departure terminal, rather than selecting only by the facility’s name.

  • Terminal parking: check the walking route to your departure hall.
  • Long-stay parking: confirm transfer requirements and operating hours.
  • Private parking or valet services: review the handover point, storage arrangements and return procedure.
  • Electric vehicle charging: check availability, compatibility and any charges before reserving.

Prices depend on dates, duration and availability. Allow time to park, unload luggage and reach check-in. A shuttle should not be assumed to serve every terminal directly or operate overnight unless the operator confirms it.

Use Paris Aéroport’s official parking information to check the current facilities for your airport and travel dates.

Airport Hotels and Dining

An airport hotel can be useful for an early departure, an overnight connection or a business meeting. At CDG, options include the Sheraton in the Terminal 2 complex and hotels around Roissypôle, including Hilton and citizenM. The former Pullman Paris Roissy CDG Airport is now the Radisson Blu CDG Airport Terminal Hotel, Paris.

At Orly, options include Novotel and ibis properties in the airport area. Confirm the exact hotel address, walking route and shuttle arrangements directly with the property. Not all hotel transfers are free, and not all operate throughout the night.

Food outlets at both airports range from cafés and quick meals to restaurants. Opening hours, choice and access vary by terminal and by whether you are in the public area or after security. If you have a late flight, check the options available near your gate.

Rail Connections and Public Transportation

CDG to Paris by RER B

RER B connects CDG with Paris. Use Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1 for Roissypôle, Terminal 3 and the onward CDGVAL connection to Terminal 1. Use Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV for the Terminal 2 transport hub.

Check the train’s destination, service information and ticket requirements before boarding. Engineering work can affect your route, especially late at night or on weekends.

Orly to Paris by Metro Line 14 or Orlyval

Metro line 14 serves Aéroport d’Orly station and provides a direct metro connection with Paris. Another option is Orlyval to Antony, followed by RER B.

Orlyval and airport metro journeys have specific ticket rules. Check whether your ticket or pass covers the entire route, including any connection.

High-Speed Rail and Airport Connections

CDG has an airport TGV station in the Terminal 2 complex. Check the available trains for your travel date and destination. Some journeys require a connection, and a direct train should not be assumed from an airport name alone.

Orly does not have a TGV station inside its terminal complex. A journey to Massy TGV, another Paris station or a regional station requires a separate transfer.

Bus and Shuttle Services: Important Changes

RoissyBus ended on March 1, 2026, and OrlyBus ended on March 3, 2025. Older guides may still list them as operating services.

For CDG, current bus alternatives include express line 9517 via Saint-Denis Pleyel, route 350 from Porte de la Chapelle and route 351 from Nation. Overnight connections include Noctilien N140 and N143. Use official journey planning information to select a route that serves your stop.

Airport terminal and parking shuttles have their own timetables. CDGVAL is free but does not operate continuously throughout the night and does not stop at every Terminal 2 hall.

Transfers to Paris and Regional Train Stations

A prebooked private car service can connect an airport arrival with a train departure. Share your flight and train details and allow time for airport formalities, traffic and reaching the platform.

Taxis and Prebooked Private Chauffeur Transfers

Official taxis use designated airport ranks. Follow the signs and avoid accepting rides from people approaching passengers inside the terminals. Waiting depends on demand and vehicle availability.

A private chauffeur service is reserved in advance. First Class Partner can coordinate a pickup for your arrival terminal, arrange meet and greet with a name sign, assist with luggage and provide a vehicle suited to your booking.

Airport pickup normally takes place at an agreed location in the public arrivals area. A private chauffeur reservation does not include unrestricted access to a boarding gate or secure area.

Choose a premium sedan, SUV or spacious van according to your passengers and luggage. Vans for up to 7–8 passengers can be arranged depending on the vehicle selected. Request child seats or discuss accessibility requirements before booking so suitable arrangements can be confirmed.

Transfers Between CDG and Orly

A connection between the two airports requires a separate ground journey. Compare a prebooked private transfer with public transportation based on the time available, luggage and number of passengers.

Do not assume a direct scheduled coach operates between the airports. For public transportation, check an itinerary such as RER B with an appropriate onward connection to Orly. For a private transfer, provide both flight details and departure deadlines.

Allow enough time for immigration, baggage collection, road or rail travel and the next airline’s check-in requirements. A ground transfer does not guarantee that a tight connection can be made.

Sightseeing and Excursions After Your Flight

Private transfers can continue to Paris, Disneyland Paris, Versailles, Fontainebleau and other destinations in Île-de-France. For sightseeing or a schedule involving several stops, a Dedicated Chauffeur Service can be arranged for a half-day, full day or several days.

For a visit between flights, check entry requirements, opening hours and the time needed to return to the airport. Keep your onward flight deadline in mind when planning any excursion.

Airport Services for a More Comfortable Journey

Lounges and Business Facilities

Lounge access depends on the terminal, airline, travel class, membership and the specific lounge’s admission rules. Facilities may include seating, refreshments and workspace, but showers, meeting rooms and paid entry are not available everywhere.

Medical Assistance and Pharmacies

Check the airport directory for medical assistance, first-aid points and pharmacy locations. Availability and opening hours vary. If you need assistance while at the airport, contact airport staff rather than assuming every terminal has the same services.

Luggage Storage and Accessibility Assistance

Luggage storage is a location-specific service. Confirm the storage facility, opening hours and booking conditions before planning a visit to Paris without your bags.

If you require airport mobility assistance, contact your airline in advance, preferably at least 48 hours before departure. Describe your needs and any mobility equipment so the airport and airline can coordinate the appropriate support. Confirm vehicle accessibility separately when arranging your ground transfer.

Wi-Fi, Charging and Family Facilities

Both airports offer Wi-Fi and facilities to help travelers stay connected. Device charging points and family amenities vary by area. Check where you can find changing facilities, seating and child-friendly spaces near your departure hall.

Shopping and Duty-Free

Shopping options vary by terminal, security zone and opening hours. Duty-free eligibility depends on your itinerary and applicable rules. Allow time for boarding and security rather than assuming all shops are accessible during a connection.

Meet and Greet

A personalized welcome with a name sign can simplify an airport arrival. Follow the meeting instructions supplied with your booking, keep your phone available after landing and advise us if your flight or terminal changes.
