A French VTC decal identifies a vehicle declared for private hire transportation. It complements other professional documents without replacing the driver’s card, operator registration or required insurance.
Identification tied to the vehicle
Ordering takes place through the operator’s register account under the official procedure. Check vehicle and business information before confirming. An incorrect registration number should not be fixed with a homemade sticker.
The REVTC guidance explains ordering and delivery arrangements. Check costs and procedures when applying; decal charges are separate from operator registration fees.
Permanent decal placement
Permanent decals go at the lower left of the front windshield on the driver’s side, and at the lower right of the rear window opposite the driver. The July 24, 2025 order specifies permanent attachment: the decals must not be removable intact. Follow the official instructions supplied with them.
A temporary decal has its own conditions and expiry date. It must not be used indefinitely while waiting to resolve an administrative issue. For loss, damage or a vehicle change, use the appropriate register procedure.
Distinguish the different expiry conditions
Decal validity depends in particular on the vehicle’s status and the operator’s registration. A decal should not be described as automatically valid for five years regardless of those circumstances.
Track your documents and check their consistency before putting a vehicle into service. A visible decal alone does not demonstrate that every professional obligation has been met.
Frequently asked questions
Can a decal be transferred to another car?
No. Identification relates to the declared vehicle and must be handled through the official procedure.
Does a decal allow pickup without a reservation?
No. Vehicle identification does not change VTC pickup rules.
For a specific procedure, consult the register and applicable legal texts rather than a decal template found online.
